Clothing Style

We recommend that you bring 3 or 4 different clothing changes.  Listed below is a selection of clothing we have found to work best.

Men

Outfit #1--Men generally look their best in a suit and tie or sport coat with coordinating dress pants.
Outfit #2--Dress pants with a coordinating  shirt and sweater, lends itself to a nice semi-formal look.
Outfit #3--Casual pants (kahki's, jeans, shorts) coordinated with a casual shirt (rugby, polo, nice sweatshirt.)

We highly recommend choosing outfits #1 and #2, in addition to outfit #3.  Extreme casual wear generally lends itself to unflattering portraits. Choosing coordinated shoes and socks for each outfit adds to the total image.  All outfits should be neatly pressed, color coordinated, and fit well.  It is highly recommended that all outfits have a 3/4 length, or long sleeves.

Hair & Skin Care

Be sure to shave within an hour or so of your appointment.
If you plan a haircut, schedule it two weeks before your sitting.
Make sure hair is combed out of your eyes.
Use a light coating of hair spray to smooth down loose hairs, and set style.

Women

Outfit #1--A semi-formal look is best.  We recommend a suit, skirt, or pants with coordinated long sleeve shirt or sweater.  Please bring a complete, matching outfit.  Portraits will be composed for full length, and traditional head and shoulder poses.
Outfit #2--Selecting a formal gown/prom dress or dress with matching jacket is recommended for a more formal look.  If you prefer something casual we suggest, khaki, denim, or corduroy pants with a nice shirt or sweater.  For a fun casual look, try bibs or shorts with a fun coordinating top.  Casual clothes are great, however bring a few formal changes as recommended in outfits #1 and #2.  By doing so, this will allow you a better selection of poses.

Hair & Makeup

Wear your hair the way you like it best, and don't try a new hairstyle.  New styles are great, but make sure it is what you want before the portrait session.
Use hair spray sparingly to set your hair style.
Warmer tones of makeup foundation & blush are highly recommended.  Enhance your eyes by using soft, warm shades of eye shadow.
Blemishes can be minimized with a concealer.
Lip gloss adds an attractive sparkle.
Bring makeup for repairs and touch-ups.
Finger nails should be neatly polished as your hands will appear in some photographs.

Glasses

If you usually wear glasses, you should wear them for your portrait.  It is advisable to contact your optician to lend you a pair of empty frames in the same style as yours.  This is important because glasses often cause reflections which are difficult to correct.  If you are unable to have a second set of frames, please ask them to remove your lenses before your sitting and replace them afterward.

Outdoors

Dress casually.  Clothes may be more colorful, and coordinated with the seasonal colors being displayed outdoors.  Our outdoor location is located at Silver Springs State Park, only minutes away from our office.  Due to weather changes, it is important that you contact our office the day of your appointment to be updated on current weather status.  In the event of extreme temperatures, humidity and wind conditions, your portrait time and date may need to be adjusted.  When choosing clothing for your outdoor session, it is important to keep in mind that many poses will be created by posing on the grass, trees, and rocks, The clothing you choose should allow you the freedom to pose comfortably.  Men should have casual pants (jeans, corduroys, khaki's) with coordinated shirt, sweater or both, generally look best in the natural outdoors.  Women should wear a skirt or pants with coordinating top, or a casual dress are recommended for a natural look within a park setting.
